Valérie, a 14-year-old girl, is different from her peers, mostly because she is interested in activities that are different than what she is “supposed” to like. She wants to try things that other girls tend to shy away from, for whatever reasons. Tired of feeling limited, Valérie shares her frustrations with her teacher, Madame Reid. Inspired by Madame Reid's advice, Valérie creates a list of five activities she wants to try. On the way to accomplishing her goals, she faces obstacles and encounters ridicule from her family, boys, and girls. Still, will Valérie learn that there are limits based on gender expectations?

Great series - Intro to Paris

Looking for a way to introduce your students to Paris via a story? Like cute little rodents? Novice students need lots of input and repetition and a glossary to help them out? Look no further. There's definitely a bit of repetitiveness in these books but the storyline and curiosity about what happens to Rhumus keeps you reading. The author is very capable and has come up with yet another creative storyline that gets students reading. I particularly liked the 2nd book which had me hooked in wanting to know how the building frustration of the rats would resolve. You won't want to miss adding these titles to your classroom library!

Interesting and at my level (A1-A2)

This book was a pleasure to read. I understood most of it, but there were still some words I had to look up. The glossary in the back was very convenient. The story was interesting as well, and I found myself looking forward to seeing what was going to happen. Thanks.

    La lettre

This was a great novel for my 8th grade French students. It’s compelling and relatable. They love reading that other kids go through similar challenges during adolescence. Highly recommend.
